Through Talen's Eyes: "Grandma, What is Prayer? is a profound yet practical story that explains the spiritual discipline of prayer. This book introduces readers to another grandson, Wade who joins Talen and his grandmother for a day of discovery. As in "A Visit to Grandma's House," the boys enjoy ongoing, rich conversation and fun with their grandmother. When the question of prayer arises, Grandma explains in terms that children and adults can understand and quickly put into practice. The book contains rich illustrations and a reading comprehension section which encourage children to engage multiple senses. Children will listen intently, spy out the special features in the illustrations and enjoy conversation with the adult reader, just as Talen and Wade share with their grandmother, who is blind. Age range - 2 through 12
“Eliminate Excuse” is not only the name of my personal business, it is also the way I live my life.
Since my sight loss at the age of 56, it probably would have been understandable and even acceptable to some if I had decided to not only live as unsighted, but also as unseen. However, that is not who I am. I have made it my personal mission to demonstrate that although a life with blindness creates challenges, it is still a life that includes joy, laughter, peace, and new adventures. Since I was a writer and a speaker and trainer prior to sight-loss, I decided to expand on those gifts to which I had been blessed. Both of my Through Talen’s Eyes children’s books were written after sight-loss and I continue to conduct numerous book talks to parents, grandparents and educators. Additionally, the Healing Words boxes were created in an effort to give GOD the praise for bringing me through the trials attributed to sight loss. These 52 Bible passages enclosed in the boxes were and still are significant to me as they bring me strength and support. It is my prayer that these boxes will be significant to you, your family and friends as well.
I am a living testimony of the life God offers when we surrender and trust in Him. I am expanding “Eliminate Excuse" to include motivational talks to various faith-based groups. I live my life with the belief that the important things are the ones that bind us together as humans – love of God, love of family, appreciation of good friends, and humble pride in accomplishments.
